The Heronger Heide nature reserve is located in the city of Straelen in the Kleve district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area extends southwest of the Straelen town of Herongen . The B 221 runs along the eastern edge and the state border with the Netherlands runs along the western edge . To the west lies Venlo and flows the Maas , to the north the A 40 runs .

Since 2013, an area of ​​210.77 hectares has been designated as a nature reserve for Straelen under the identification number KLE-064. The area was placed under protection in order to preserve a large contiguous forest and open land complex for species-rich communities and as a habitat for certain wild animal and plant species.
