Vrasna ( Greek Βρασνά [ vrasˈna ] ( n. Pl. )) Is a municipality in the municipality of Agios Georgios of the municipality of Volvi, created in 2010, in the Greek region of Central Macedonia . It consists of the small town of Nea Vrasna (2,556 inhabitants) as well as Vrasna (278 inhabitants) and Paliamela (45 inhabitants).
Vrasna is located about 65 km east of Thessaloniki on the mountain slopes of Kerdylio immediately north of Egnatia Odos , only 2.5 kilometers west of junction 27 Asprovalta / Vrasna. One of the main attractions is the Byzantine tower, right next to the Orthodox Church of Agios Georgios, which is still very well preserved. Nea Vrasna and Paralia Vrasnon are located about four kilometers east of the Strymonian Gulf . National Road 2 runs through the coastal towns . According to the 2011 census, the place had 2895 inhabitants.
While the inhabitants of Vrasna originally lived on the foothills of the Kerdylio, two further districts Nea Vrasna and Paralia Vrasnon (also Kato Vrasna) have developed on the coast since 1960. Vrasna has also benefited in recent years from the tourist development of the significantly larger and better developed towns of Asprovalta and Stavros, which are adjacent to the water on both sides .
The beach of Nea Vrasna is regularly awarded the Blue Flag .
