Neal James Eardley (born November 6, 1988 in Llandudno ) is a Welsh football player who has been under contract with Northampton Town since 2017 .
Club career
Oldham Athletic
Neal Eardley, who was mainly used as a right-back, made his professional debut at Oldham Athletic on May 6, 2006 . Eardley, who was already active in his youth for the club from Oldham , quickly earned a regular place in his team. In three consecutive seasons he was able to place his team in the top third of the table of the third-rate Football League One , but the promotion to the second-rate Football League Championship did not succeed.
Blackpool FC
On August 7, 2009 Eardley moved to the English second division club Blackpool . At the Ian Holloway coached club from Blackpool , he signed a two-year contract and debuted on August 18 in the game against Derby County . The right-back played a total of 24 league games in the Football League Championship 2009/10 and celebrated his surprising promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season . Blackpool had finished sixth in the regular season and defeated Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City in the subsequent play-offs . The club is playing for the first time in 40 years in the English premier league.
The team with regular Neal Eardley also got off to a very good start in the 2010/11 Premier League , which gives justified hope of staying up. On November 6, 2010 Eardley scored his first goal for Blackpool at home in Bloomfield Road Stadium in the first division game against Everton .
Birmingham City
On May 31, 2013 Eardley signed a three-year contract with league rivals Birmingham City .
Welsh national team
After he had already been used for various youth teams of the Welsh federation, he made his debut on August 22, 2007 for the Welsh national football team in the international match against Bulgaria . Neal Eardley was also used in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa , but missed participation in the World Cup.
