Neiden is a district of the municipality of Elsnig in the district of North Saxony in Saxony .

location

Neiden is located in the Elbe lowlands close to the western bank of the Elbe and in the area of ​​influence of the oxbow lakes. The district of the village is located in the Elbaue on alluvial soil and outside this location mostly on sand. The federal highway 182 and the disused railway line Pratau – Torgau run west past the village.

history

In 1249 the street village Neiden was first mentioned as Niden . In 1250 it was called Nyden , in 1529 Neyden and in 1535 Neiden, as it is now written. The village was also mentioned in 1445 as Pflege Torgau . 1747 is mentioned on a manor Drögnitz.

The rural community had 219 inhabitants in 1818, 372 in 1925 and 570 in 1990. In 1895, farmers and workers of the manor farmed 595 hectares of land. The administrative management was always in Torgau and Torgau-Oschatz and has been active in the northern Saxony district since 2008.

From 1250 until 2001 the church was a parish church in the village.
