Neira Maria Ortiz Ruiz (born July 6, 1993 in San Juan ) is a Puerto Rican volleyball player.

Career

Ortiz, the daughter of former professional basketball player José Ortiz , began her career at Cupeyville High School. Since the age of 14, she played for the youth national teams of Puerto Rico. She took part in the NORCECA championships and was runner-up in 2008. In 2009 she played at the Junior World Championships in Tijuana . A year later she was appointed to the senior national team for the first time .

From 2011 to 2014 Ortiz studied at Colorado University and played Buffs on the university team. She then returned to her homeland, where she was active at Capitalinas de San Juan from 2015 to 2017. At this club, the former diagonal attacker moved to the center block. In the 2017/18 season she played in Peru for Allianza Lima . In 2018 she took part in the World Cup in Japan . Then she went to the Puerto Rican club Polluelas de Aibonito . In 2019 Ortiz was signed by the German Bundesliga club Rote Raben Vilsbiburg .
