Nelly Olin (born March 23, 1941 in Paris , † October 27, 2017 in Garges-lès-Gonesse ) was a French politician .

In 1995 the former management assistant was first elected mayor of Garges-lès-Gonesse and a few months later also senator of the Val-d'Oise department .

As a former member of the Senate Committee on Women's Rights and Equal Opportunities for Men and Women, she also held local offices at the same time: she was Regional Councilor of Île-de-France and Vice-President of the General Council of Val-d'Oise.

She was a subordinate minister in the fight against exclusion and for integration and equal opportunities . Under the government of Jean-Pierre Raffarin , she became Minister for the Environment on June 2, 2005 and Minister for Sustainable Development in the government of Dominique de Villepin , after causing a stir with her work as a member of the National Council.
