Dominique Perben (born August 11, 1945 in Lyon ) is a French politician. After the Ministry of Justice under Raffarin , he was then (2005-2007) the Ministry of Transport in the government of Dominique de Villepin . Dominique Perben is married and has three children.

Life

He graduated in economics from the Political School of Paris in 1966 and from the School of Administration in Paris in 1972. He then held several positions as an overseer. In 1977 he was chairman of the cabinet of Norbert Ségard, the then State Secretary for Telecommunications and in 1982 head of the service department for the Rhône-Alpes region .

Political career

From 1983 to 2002 Perben was mayor of Chalon-sur-Saône . At the same time he was vice-chairman of the regional council of the Saône-et-Loire département from 1985 to 1988 and a member of the regional council of Bourgogne from 1992 to 1993 . Since March 2004 he has been the representative of the Canton of Lyon-VI in the General Council of the Départements Rhône and is the first Vice-President of this council.

From 1998 to 1999 Perben was secretary of the Rassemblement pour la République (RPR) for foreign affairs at national level, later for reforms of the state organs, civil servants and spatial organization.

In 1986, 1993, 1997 and 2002, Perben was elected and re-elected as a member of the 5th electoral district of the Saône-et-Loire department. During this time he was a member of the Legislative Committee of the National Assembly and a member of the parliamentary committee appointed by the parliamentary group to evaluate legislation.

From 1993 to 1995 Perben was Minister responsible for the overseas territories (government of Édouard Balladur ). From 1995 to 1997 he held the ministerial office for civil servants, reform of the state organs and decentralization (government of Alain Juppé ). He then held the Ministry of Justice (government of Jean-Pierre Raffarin) from 2002 to 2005 and was Minister for Transport, Equipment, Tourism and Marine Economics in the Dominique de Villepins government between June 2, 2005 and May 15, 2007 .

On January 9, 2012, he announced his retirement from political life to work as a lawyer .
