Henri Nallet

Henri Nallet (born January 6, 1939 in Bergerac , Dordogne department ) is a French politician of the Parti socialiste .

career

Henri Nallet is the son of an optician. He studied political science and public law at the Institut d'études politiques in Bordeaux .

From 1966 to 1970 he was a functionary of the Fédération nationale des syndicats d'exploitants agricoles (FNSEA), a trade union umbrella organization for farmers. He then moved to the Institut national de la recherche agronomique , an agricultural research and advisory institute. In 1973 he became Jean Charlot's assistant in the Political Science Education and Research Department (Unité de formation et de recherche de science politique) at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne .

After François Mitterrand was elected President, Nallet was appointed to the Cabinet as a consultant on agriculture and became a member of the Government's General Secretariat. In 1985 he replaced Laurent Fabius Michel Rocard as Minister of Agriculture under the government (Prime Minister) . He held this office between April 4, 1985 and March 20, 1986 and again between June 28, 1988 and October 2, 1990 (under the Michel Rocard government). Immediately afterwards he was the successor to Pierre Arpaillange under the government of Michel Rocard (later Édith Cresson ) until April 2, 1992 Minister of Justice of France.

Henri Nallet represented the Yonne department for the French Socialist Party from 1986 to 1988 and again between 1997 and 1999 in the National Assembly . From 1989 to 1998 he was mayor of the small Burgundian town of Tonnerre .

From 1992 to 1997 Nallet was a Councilor of State ( Conseiller d'État ). In 1992 he was an advisor to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development . In 1998 he was Vice President of the Party of European Socialists . Outside of his professional career, he supported the charitable organization Les Restos du Cœur in building it up.
