Pascal Clément

Pascal Clément (born May 12, 1945 in Boulogne-Billancourt , Hauts-de-Seine department , † June 21, 2020 in Paris ) was a French politician of the UDF / UMP .

Pascal Clément studied philosophy and law and was a graduate of the Paris Political School. His roles included attorney at the Paris Court of Appeals and professional judge at the High Court from 1992 to 1993. He was married and the father of four children. On June 2, 2005, as part of the cabinet reshuffle following the rejection of the European Constitution, he was appointed Minister of Justice by referendum .

Mandates and offices

From 1977 to 2001 he was mayor of Saint-Marcel-de-Félines (Loire), from 2001 he was a member of the local council . In 1982 he was made Vice-Chair of the Loire Regional Council and chaired the Council.

From 1978 he was a member of the Loire department (6th constituency), and since 2002 he has also been chairman of the National Assembly's law commission . Between 1993 and 1995 he was the Prime Minister's Head of Relations with the National Assembly, and from June 2, 2005 to May 15, 2007 he was Minister of Justice. Then again MP for the Loire department.
