Nelson Juan López (* 24. June 1941 in Argentina ) is a former Argentine football player with the national team of his native country at the 1966 FIFA World Cup took part.

Career

Nelson López began playing football at River Plate in Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires . In 1961 he was taken over to the professional team of the Argentine Nobel Club. In a team around stars like Ermindo Onega , Amadeo Carrizo and José Varacka , however, López could not prevail and only made seven league games in the Primera División of the 1961 season. He then moved to league rivals Rosario Central in 1962 , where he was hardly given a chance and also only made two league games here and went to SC Internacional from Porto Alegre after only one year in the third largest city in Argentina after Brazil . At the club, which at that time was not one of the big clubs in Brazilian football, he played football for a year.

In 1964 López returned to Argentina and joined the first division club CA Banfield from Buenos Aires. At Banfield, the best was staying in the middle of the Argentine Primera División, he became a regular player and was during his time in Banfield for coach Juan Carlos Lorenzo interesting of him in the line-up of the Argentine national football team for the 1966 FIFA World Cup in England called. Nelson López was not used during the tournament. Meanwhile, his team reached the round of 16 at the World Cup, where they were eliminated against the eventual world champions and hosts England . He then played another season for CA San Lorenzo de Mar del Plata in the lower class of Argentine football.
