Nelson Romero

Nelson Romero (born October 16, 1951 in San José , Uruguay, † November 21, 2012 in San José de Mayo ) was a Uruguayan painter and graphic artist .

His first solo exhibition took place in 1972 in the Galería del Arte in the Montevidean Palacio Salvo . In 1973 he received an invitation to take part in the drawing competition for the Joan Miró Prize in Barcelona. In the same year he also took part in the Second Graphic and Drawing Biennale in Cali , Colombia . This was followed by numerous other exhibitions at home and abroad, such as 1974 in Buenos Aires at 6 Artistas Uruguayos or 1976 in Barcelona in the Galería U . His works were part of an exhibition thematically linked to Uruguayan art, which began in 1982 at the Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales (MNAV) in Montevideo, and was subsequently presented in the German cities of Munich , Bonn , Stuttgart and Berlin .
