Nelson Davíd Vivas (born October 18, 1969 in Granadero Baigorria , Santa Fe Province , Argentina ) is a former Argentine professional footballer and current coach .

Career

The 1.66 meter tall right defender began his career in 1990 at the Argentine club Quilmes AC . He made his debut on September 10, 1991 against the Newell's Old Boys . After three years he moved to the Boca Juniors .

Like most Argentine soccer players, he moved to Europe for the Swiss club FC Lugano . In August 1998, Arsenal FC offered him a £ 1.6m contract. He completed 61 league games. Vivas was mainly used as a full-back. His only goal for Arsenal, he scored in the League Cup against Derby County . A short time later, he had a setback when he failed on penalties against Middlesbrough FC and Arsenal was thrown out of the League Cup. In the new millennium he was loaned to the Celta Vigo association . In 2004 he signed a contract with Quilmes AC for one year and after the 2004/05 season he ended his career.

In 2013 he returned to Quilmes AC as a coach. He made international headlines when he attacked a fan in the stands, after which he resigned from his post. From 1994 to 2003 he completed 39 international matches for the Argentine national soccer team . He scored his only goal in a friendly against the Romanian League.
