history
The first documentary mention was in 1200, but the place and church existed before that. In the document, Bishop Thietmar von Minden confirmed the establishment of a Benedictine convent. The foundation of the monastery is closely connected to a priest named Symon , who laid the economic foundations for the monastery by donating farms and lands.
During the introduction of the Reformation by the Counts of Hoya , the monastery was dissolved and all buildings except the church were demolished. In 1542 there were still seven nuns living here who were compensated in cash and in kind. Some of them got married. The scattered lands of the monastery were combined into a courtyard.
The church was rebuilt in a classical style in 1787 and has had its current appearance ever since.
In 1888 three Roman silver bars with inscriptions were found near Nendorf , which have been in the Hanover State Museum since 1890 .
Nendorf was an independent municipality. Since March 1st 1974 Nendorf has been part of Stolzenau.
