The New Apostolic Church (Berlin-Britz) is located at Backbergstrasse 12 in the Berlin district of Britz in what is now the Neukölln district .

history

The Berlin-Britz community was founded in 1912 to relieve the overcrowded Neukölln Church in Flughafenstrasse. The church at Flughafenstrasse 43 was closed in 2007 and sold to the Muslim “Association of Intercultural Centers” (see list of closed New Apostolic churches in Germany ). Due to the merger of the congregations Berlin-Britz and Berlin-Neukölln II, whose church at Flughafenstrasse 43 was abandoned, the services at Backbergstrasse 12 were regularly well attended. Due to the low room height , the air was quickly used up at events. A conversion was therefore necessary. After four months of construction, the rebuilt and renovated church was moved into again on Sunday, April 19, 2009.

Building description

The saddle roof of the hall church was completely renewed. In order to improve the air in the room , the existing interior ceiling was removed so that the nave now extends up to the roof ridge . The massive beams and struts were left exposed as decorative elements. Indirect lighting on the sloping ceilings and six skylights that open electrically and can be darkened if necessary provide plenty of light. The dark paneling on the walls was painted light. There was only one multi-purpose room next to the sacristy . A common room of around 40 square meters was created on the upper floor above the anteroom to accommodate the various children and music groups. The service is broadcast on flat screens in the adjoining rooms .
