The Neue Bonner Hut (formerly Zechner Hut ) is a hut of the Bonn section of the German Alpine Club and is located at an altitude of 1713  m above sea level. A. near the Katschberg in the Gurktal Alps .

history

Originally, the Neue Bonner Hütte was a private alpine hut, where mountain hikers occasionally spent the night. After the Second World War , it was expanded by the owner at the time, the "Zechner-Bauer". The old hut name, which is still recorded on some maps, goes back to him.

In 1964, the Bonn Section took over the property, and after four years of extensive renovation work, the former “Zechner Hut” has now been reopened as the “Bonner Hut”. To distinguish it from the old Bonner Hut , the former hut of the section near Toblach in South Tyrol , it is also referred to as the "new" Bonner Hut.

Access to the hut

In summer, the easiest way to get to the hut is by car from Frankenberg ( Rennweg municipality ). This route takes about 2 hours on foot (from the valley). Alternatively, the hut can also be reached from Sankt Margarethen im Lungau in 3 hours and from Bundschuh ( Thomatal municipality ) in 2½ hours.
