Location of Neuenmuhr in Bavaria |
Neuenmuhr is part of the unitary community Muhr am See in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district ( Middle Franconia ) and was an independent community until January 1, 1976.
location
The formerly structurally independent place has now grown together with Altenmuhr and Stadeln zu Muhr am See. Neuenmuhr is the southeastern part. The western edge is roughly formed by Freiherr-von-Lentersheim-Strasse.
history
Neuenmuhr is a typical clearing village . In contrast to the neighboring municipality of Altenmuhr, it was not fortified in the Middle Ages. On the southern edge of the village stood Neuenmuhr Castle , which was now lost and was the most magnificent in the Altmühltal . Today a memorial stone reminds of the building. The village was largely burned down in the Thirty Years War and rebuilt in the following years.
Neuenmuhr originally extended from Neuenmuhrer Schloss in the south to the Evangelical Lutheran St. Jakobus Church in the north and from Gunzenhäuser Straße in the south to the village pond in the southeast.
