The new Brasília TV Tower (Portuguese: Torre de TV Digital de Brasília ) is a TV tower in Brasília for broadcasting digital television . The construction progress was delayed due to a political crisis, so that the original opening date on April 21, 2010 - the 50th anniversary of the Brazilian capital - could not be maintained. The tower is located in Lago Norte in northern Brasilia on the highest point of the capital district . The inauguration finally took place on April 21, 2012 with a two-year delay.

description

The tower consists of a 123-meter-high shaft made of reinforced concrete, which has cantilevered platforms that are curved at a height of 60 and 80 meters , each supporting a glass dome. The visitor areas with a restaurant and a gallery for exhibitions are to be housed in these. The architectural design language should be reminiscent of a flower, which is why the tower is also called Flor do Cerrado . Access is via a spiral ramp around the shaft above a basin at the foot of the structure. The facilities inside the tower can be reached via three lifts and a fire escape. The tower shaft extends upwards in a goblet shape and is to be closed off by a 56 meter high, tapered steel antenna. The center of the concrete shaft is to be accentuated by a glass-clad elevator shaft. Below the roof edge all around are portholes arranged.

The television tower rises from a circular basin filled with water. The foundation of 2000 m³ concrete is 13.4 meters deep. The massive components consist of 10,352 cubic meters of concrete.

It replaces the old Brasília TV tower , which is higher at 224 meters, but has a lower position in the Brazilian capital.
