history

In Neuschmölln there is an old manor, which was founded in 1720 by the noble Gottlieb von Staupitz and is considered the origin of the place. For this reason, the place is still rarely referred to by its residents and people from the surrounding area by its actual name, but mainly as Staupitz (or Upper Lusatian Dustz ).

Since 1839 the settlement consisted of a political and an estate community, which were merged in 1922. The following year it was incorporated into Schmölln. In 1936 a workers' settlement consisting of 18 houses was built, the complex of which is still recognizable despite changes and additions.

Transport and infrastructure

Neuschmölln is located on the K 7260 district road between Tröbigau and Schmölln . There are direct bus connections from Neuschmölln to the major district towns of Bautzen and Bischofswerda.
