Nevrez Calışkan (* 1968 in Anatolia , Turkey ) is a German entertainer. He became famous in the 1990s as "Turkish Elvis" in numerous programs on German and Turkish television and at the Cologne Carnival . The Hörzu spoke of him again as one of the best Elvis Presley - imitators of Europe.

The Duisburg-based artist was, for example, a guest in popular television shows such as ZDF-Fernsehgarten , Schmidtanders , TV total or in Die Bülent Ceylan-Show , but also in various entertainment programs on Turkish television. He also sang several times with the musician and presenter Götz Alsmann on his show. Later there were TV appearances across Europe.

In 1995, Calışkan's appearance on the Harald Schmidt Show caused a scandal in the Turkish media . Two employees of the comedy show accompanied him as dancers, who were supposed to represent Turkish women, equipped with headscarves and Aldi bags by the props . For this he was sharply condemned by some Turkish newspapers for promoting clichés and prejudices. Calışkan made it clear that he was surprised by the performance of the two dancers on the show himself. On the 20th anniversary of Presley's death, Calışkan was a guest of Herman and Tietjen . Eva Herman conducted the entire interview with him in Turkish, although Calışkan, who has lived in Germany since he was four, speaks German without an accent.

At the beginning of 2000 Calışkan lent his face to various advertising campaigns, including advertising for Peugeot in Turkey and post-its in Germany. He also had various cameo appearances in television series and movies from Doppelter Einsatz (1995), where he played a kidnapped Elvis imitator, to Wim Wenders ' Palermo Shooting (2008). After the presley imitator had calmed down at the end of the 2000s, the musician is working on a double CD in 2009 with Elvis songs translated into Turkish, according to a report by WDR television.

Calışkan is the son of Turkish migrant workers and initially worked as a musician for a long time alongside his studies. His show repertoire, which can be booked according to special requests, includes all of the King's career phases. Even the Muslim brings Christmas specials with gospel songs Presley. Calışkan has his original costumes sewn in Turkey.
