New Zealand Football Championship 2004/05

The 2004/05 New Zealand Football Championship marked the first season of New Zealand's top division in men's football since franchises were introduced. It began on October 15, 2004 with the game between Napier City and Auckland City FC and ended on March 12, 2005 with the final between Waitakere United and Auckland City FC. In the final, Auckland prevailed 3-2 and became the first New Zealand champion under the new mode.

First, all teams in a league consisting of eight teams played against each other in three rounds. The second and third placed players then played against each other in the playoffs to crown the champions in the championship final against the first round.
