Ngila Dickson

Ngila Dickson ONZM (* 1958 in Dunedin ) is a New Zealand costume designer . She was nominated three times for an Oscar , once she could win it.

Life

Ngila Dickson first worked as a fashion designer and stylist before moving to the film industry. Rainbow Warrior was the first film in which Dickson was responsible for the costumes. In addition to her work for movies, Dickson also worked for television productions, in the 1990s mainly for Xena and Hercules . At the 2004 Academy Awards , Dickson was nominated for two films in the Best Costume Design category. While The Last Samurai received nothing, Dickson won an Oscar for her work on The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King . Dickson is married to the art historian Hamish Keith and lives in Auckland .
