Nothing was free is the 14th solo album by the Berlin rapper Prinz Pi . It was released on November 3, 2017 via his independent label Keine Liebe Records as a standard edition and limited box set , including instrumentals, piano version and best-of CD.

The album was produced by the music producer Biztram , with whom Prinz Pi has been working for a long time. In addition, the producers Beatzarre and Djorkaeff participated .

Cover design

Nothing was free entered the German album charts at number 2 on November 10, 2017 and stayed in the top 100 for four weeks. The album reached 9th place in Austria and 13th in Switzerland. It was 93rd in the 2017 annual German album charts.

On July 28, 2017, the first single, Forever and Always , was released, which reached number 94 in the German charts. A week later, the next release, Hellrot , followed , which came in 82nd. The third single Nothing was in vain was released on August 11, 2017 and on September 22, 2017, the fourth single was released, Last Love , which entered the German charts at position 43. After the album was released, the song Das Original also reached the charts due to high individual downloads and streaming and reached number 59.

Yannik Gölz from laut.de rated the album with three out of a possible five points. It is a “mainstream pop album” that is only “broken up again and again through brief interludes of musical freedom”. Lyrically, the rapper would mostly convince and convey personalities. Ultimately, the album is only "mediocre".

Daniel Fersch from MZEE.com wrote about the album: "If you want a relatively pleasantly audible album that is reminiscent of earlier works, you also have to take the unpleasantly poppy side with you, which Prinz Pi has now appropriated."
