Nothing new in the West is the 13th solo album by Berlin rapper Prinz Pi . It was released on February 5, 2016 via his independent label Keine Liebe Records as a standard edition and limited box set , including instrumentals and a t-shirt.
content
Thematically, the album ties in with the predecessor Kompass ohne Norden . Most of the songs are profound and deal with interpersonal relationships (e.g. 1.40m ) and life itself. The song filling from the pillow is aimed at Prince Pi's daughter, while in Chimneys he criticizes the German arms industry and its arms exports.

The complete album was produced by the music producer Biztram , who also produced Prince Pi's albums Donnerwetter and Neopunk .
Cover design
The album cover shows Prince Pi wearing a gray hat and glasses. In the lower part of the picture are the white lettering Prinz Pi and Im Westen nix Neues .

Nothing new in the West entered the German charts on February 12, 2016 at number 1 . In Austria and Switzerland, the album reached 5th place in the 2016 German album charts and 18th place in the hip-hop annual charts.
On October 9th, 2015 a lyric video for the song White Wallpaper / Minimum Single was released for download , on November 13th a music video for the song Im Westen nix Neues / Daughter was released and on December 18, 2015 a video for Heavy Metal followed . Another music video was released on January 7, 2016 for the track 1.40 m , the single for it entered the German charts at number 24. In addition, Prince Pi presented each song on the album in a short YouTube clip. On April 22nd and June 8th, 2016 videos were also released for the songs Values and The filling of the pillow .

The website laut.de rated the album with three out of a possible five points: Above all, the textual quality was praised, but the predominantly calm productions would not harmonize with the topics and would be drowsy in the long run.
Lukas Maier from MZEE criticized the fact that the concept did not contain anything new: “Beautiful melodies and a choice of words that should cover up and iron out many flaws. But ironed-out works bring one thing above all: boredom, which germinates far too quickly and cannot be dispelled that quickly. "
