His statistics also got better every year. The forward scored 3.7 points per game in his debut season, and 11.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in his senior year. Professional career (since 2017)

In the summer of 2017, those responsible for the Gießen 46ers signed Hornsby for the second team, which played in the ProB 2017/18 . Nick quickly became the top performer of his team and, with an average of 13.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, was one of the reasons that Central Hesse reached the quarter-finals in the playoffs. There they failed in the "Best-Of-Three" series against the Rostock Seawolves with 1: 2. At the same time, Hornsby gained experience in the basketball league for the first time and was on the field for the 46ers in two BBL games.

The Bayer Giants Leverkusen became aware of the American and signed Hornsby. The Leverkusen had initially set the goal of reaching the playoffs in the ProB 2018/19 , but it quickly became clear to the fans and experts that the Rhinelander had a special team that would be difficult to defeat. With a record of 21 wins and only one defeat, the Giants occupied first place in the table in the southern season after the main round. Subsequently, the “Giant from the Rhine” prevailed in the playoffs against EN Baskets Schwelm (round of 16 - 2-0), Junior EWE Baskets Oldenburg (quarter-finals - 2: 1) and SSV Lokomotive Bernau (semi-finals - 2: 0). Bayer's promotion to ProA could no longer be taken. In the end, the Giants became ProB champions: In the final, they defeated the WWU Baskets Münster (89:86 / 88:60). Hornsby was chosen after the season with an average of 12.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game to the " Most Valuable Player " (best player in the league) of the ProB.

After the promotion to the ProA 2019/20 , the people in charge of Leverkusen quickly “ nailed it” and extended the expiring contract with Hornsby for another season. Until the season ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the Leverkusen team was the league's surprise team and was fifth in the final ranking. Hornsby was the best point collector of his team with 14.2 points per encounter.
