Nick Reimer

Nick Reimer (born August 20, 1966 in Meißen ) is a journalist and book author based in Berlin .

Life

During the political change in 1989/1990 in Freiberg (Saxony), Reimer founded the GDR's first national environmental magazine , ÖkoStroika . After completing his studies in fuel and environmental process engineering, he volunteered at the Berliner Zeitung in 1993 . In 1996 he became a reporter for the Morgenpost in Saxony and in 1998 a correspondent for the taz .

From 2000 to 2011 he was the business editor of taz and responsible for climate and energy. Until 2016 he was editor-in-chief of the online magazine klimaretter.info , which existed until 2018. Together with the journalist Toralf Staud , he received the Otto Brenner Prize in the category media projects in 2012 for the online platform Der Klima-Liegendetektor .

In 2014 he had a teaching position for sustainability and journalism at the University of Lüneburg.

Reimer's first book The Future of the Environmental Movement was published in 2001. The photo reading book followed in 2002 when the rain came to the flood in Saxony . In 2007 he wrote Wir Klimaretter with Toralf Staud . The turnaround can still be achieved . Because of the media response to the thesis of global warming as a “collective problem”, Reimer and Staud founded the web portal klimaretter.info , for which they received the 2008 Environmental Media Prize in the New Media category . In 2015 Reimer advocated the thesis in the book Final Conference that the climate conference in Paris decides on the suitability of democracy for solving global problems.
