Nick Tate

Nicholas John Tate (born June 18, 1942 in Sydney ) is an Australian actor and director .

Life

Nick Tate was born in 1942 to the actor couple John Tate and Neva Carr-Glyn . So the young Nick came to the theater at an early age and appeared as an actor at a young age. At first he was drawn more behind the scenes and so he started training as a director. But Tate should soon switch sides and be in front of the camera.

In 1964 he had his first appearances in Australian television series. After his parents divorced, he followed his father to England , where he also got numerous roles in British television plays. In 1975 he appeared in the role of Alan Carter in the series Moon Base Alpha 1 , which would be his best known. He is still asked about this series today. After the Alpha 1 moon base was discontinued, Tate kept commuting back and forth from England to Australia to take on roles in both countries. In 1979 he married Hazel Butterfield and the couple had two children. In the 1980s, Tate also frequently switched to theater and took on various engagements.

In 1991 he had a minor role in the Steven Spielberg film Hook .

Nick Tate is also a sought-after speaker. His voice can be heard in many cinema trailers.
