Nicolás Eugenio Navarro

Nicolás Eugenio Navarro (born November 14, 1867 on Isla Margarita , Venezuela , † November 6, 1960 in Caracas ) was a Venezuelan clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Caracas .

Life

Nicolás Eugenio Navarro studied philosophy in Cumaná until 1884 , before he began studying Catholic theology in Caracas . It was in 1890 at the Universidad Central de Venezuela to a doctor of theology doctorate . Navarro received on 29 September of the same year, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Nicolás Eugenio Navarro founded the newspaper La Religión , of which he was director from 1893 to 1895. From 1913 to 1960 Navarro was director of the Diocesan Archives of Caracas.

On February 9, 1943, Pope Pius XII appointed him . as titular bishop of Usula and auxiliary bishop in Caracas. The apostolic nuncio in Venezuela, Archbishop Giuseppe Misuraca , donated him episcopal ordination on March 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Coadjutor Archbishop of Caracas, Lucas Guillermo Castillo Hernández , and the Bishop of Zulia , Marcos Sergio Godoy . On April 23, 1952, Pius XII appointed him. titular Archbishop of Carpathus .
