Nicolae Amza

Nicolae Amza (born December 1, 1931 in Negreni , Olt district ) is a former Romanian politician of the Romanian Communist Party (PCR), who was among other things Minister for Petroleum between 1987 and 1989.

Life

After attending the theoretical high school in Târgu Jiu in 1952, Nicolae Amza began studying at the Faculty of Crude Oil and Gas Extraction of the Institute for Petroleum and Gas in Bucharest , which he graduated as an engineer in 1957. He then became an engineer in a drilling technology company in Țicleni in 1957 , where he was head of the drilling department between 1961 and 1965. In 1962 he became a member of the Romanian Communist Party PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) and was deputy chief engineer in a drilling technology company in Târgu Cărbuneşti from 1965 to 1967 . In 1967 he moved to the party administration and was initially head of the economic department in the party committee of the Oltenia region until February 1968 and then between February 1968 and 1973 head of the economic department in the party committee in the Gorj district . In 1973 he took over the post of Vice-President of the Council for Labor Control of Economic and Social Activities in the Gorj District and at the same time became a member of the Party Committee of that district, before he was appointed Economic Secretary of the District Party Committee between July 1, 1974 and December 10, 1979 Gorj acted.

Amza then moved to the government and became State Secretary in the Ministry of Mining, Petroleum and Geology on December 10, 1979, and then on December 8, 1981, Vice Minister for Petroleum. At the thirteenth party congress of the PCR (November 19-22, 1984) he became a candidate for the Central Committee (ZK) of the PCR and held this position until the collapse of communism in the course of the revolution on December 22, 1989 . On July 5, 1986, he was appointed Vice Minister for Mining, Petroleum and Geology and, at the same time, General Director of the Main Department for Petroleum and Gas of this Ministry. Most recently, he became Minister of Petroleum (Ministrul Petrolului) in the Dăscălescu II cabinet on September 4, 1987, and held this office until the fall of the neo-Stalinist dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu on December 22, 1989. For his services he received the Order of Labor Third Class (Ordinul Muncii) .
