Nicolae Burcea (born February 7, 1955 in Dracşani , † July 9, 2009 in Paris ) was a Romanian football player and coach.
Athletic career
Burcea began his career at FC Argeş Piteşti , but switched to FC Galați as a teenager in 1974 . However, the club was a yo-yo club and fluctuated between Divizia A and Divizia B . In 1981 he went to the second division club CS Botoșani for two years before returning to Galați and joining local rivals Oțelul Galați , who were also under-class . In 1986 he rose with the club in Divizia A, where the club qualified fourth for the European Cup in its second season . In the first round match in the 1988/89 UEFA Cup , Burcea caused a sensation when he contributed the decisive goal to the 1-0 first leg win over the big favorites Juventus Turin - after a 5-0 defeat in the second leg, however, the club was eliminated. From 1990 he let his career fade out at Gloria CFR Galați .
After the collapse of the communist dictatorship in Romania, Burcea moved to France. First he was player- coach at the local amateur club of the northern French community Hirson , where he was only coach from 1993, and coach at US Alfortville .
In 2004 Burcea returned to Romania as a coach and coached FC Galați, now playing as Dunărea Galați , and as assistant to Viorel Ion Gloria Buzău . He later worked as a trainer at Étoile du Congo .
