Nicolae Georgescu (born January 1, 1936 in Câmpina , Prahova district , † August 22, 1983 ) was a Romanian football player . He played a total of 211 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A .

Career

Nicolae Georgescu started playing football in his hometown of Câmpina with Rafinăria Câmpina. At the beginning of the 1954 season he moved to the second highest Romanian football league, Divizia B , to Voința Bucharest . A year later he joined the local rivals Progresul CPCS Bucharest before he was given the opportunity to move to Locomotiva Bucharest (later Rapid Bucharest) in Divizia A at the beginning of the 1956 season . There he made his debut on March 25, 1956.

Georgescu stayed with Rapid for eleven seasons and was able to reach the cup final twice and the runner-up three times during this time . The greatest success of his time at Rapid was the championship in 1967 , to which he had only contributed six appearances. He left the club immediately after this success and went to Rapid Bucharest CF in the Divizia C . A year later he returned to his hometown and ended his career in Divizia B after two years with Poiana Câmpina .

National team

Between 1955 and 1965 Georgescu came on 18 missions in the Romanian national team and scored nine goals. He made his debut on May 29, 1955 against Poland .
