Nicolae Negrilă (born July 23, 1954 in Gighera , Dolj County ) is a former Romanian football player and coach .
Player career
Negrilă joined Universitatea Craiova in 1969 . After five years in the youth team, he made his debut in the first team in 1974 in the championship game against Petrolul Ploieşti . He remained loyal to this club until 1988 and won the Romanian championship twice and the Romanian cup four times. During this time he was called up to the Romanian national team for the European Football Championship 1984 in France . Negrilă was used once, Romania eliminated in the group stage. He made another 27 appearances for Romania and scored one goal. He made his debut against Yugoslavia in 1980 .
After 14 years in Craiova , he moved to Jiul Petroșani in 1988 , where he let his career end for another two years.
Coaching career
After his playing career, he was the coach of his home club Universitatea Craiova for a year from 1990 to 1991. After that, he only coached second- to third-rate Romanian clubs such as Constructorul Craiova, Extensiv Craiova, Gilortul Târgu Cărbuneşti, Electro Craiova and Senaco Novaci. In February 2006 he became assistant to Nicolae Ungureanu at FC Caracal and replaced him after his departure on April 17, 2006 to the first division side Pandurii Târgu Jiu until the end of the season as head coach.
