Live and act
Maurin was the younger son of the painter Pierre Maurin ; his older brother was the painter Antoine Maurin (1793-1860).
Maurin received his first artistic lessons in his father's studio. With his support, two of his works were accepted for the first time in 1833 for the major exhibition at the Salon de Paris . In 1834 and 1835 Maurin was also able to take part in these annual exhibitions.
reception
Maurin's erotic pictures quickly became the “talk of the town” and found collectors from the start. His illustrations for works of fiction were just as popular as his numerous portraits.
