Nicolas Stoll (born September 4, 1987 in Heidelberg ) is a German weightlifter .

Nicolas Stoll began his career as a teenager at the weightlifting club Freie Turngemeinde 1900 eV Pfungstadt in southern Hesse . In 2005 he surprisingly became German U19 runner-up in the disciplines of snatching and pushing . In autumn 2006 he signed a contract with the German Bundesliga club KG Görlitz-Zittau. Still incapacitated by a herniated disc in the first year, he got a season score of 143.4 points in his second year. This makes him the second youngest weightlifter to reach the 140-point mark before the age of 25.

Thrown back by countless injuries, Stoll still managed to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , where he was able to book a respectable seventh and ninth place in the individual disciplines of snatching and pushing . Actually as the first substitute on point five, Stoll was allowed to replace the injured Peter Knappe in the German team. Here, too, Stoll should prove once again that you can count on him. After two failed attempts, he jumped the 125 kg in the third attempt and then tore the 127.5 kg. This success was synonymous with third place and bronze in the overall standings. This placement was more than a respectable success for the internationally rather below average German weightlifters.

The year 2010, which Stoll himself describes as “the hardest year of my career”, should not be his. After a protracted inflammation of the pubic bone, the bursa in his right knee kept bothering him. Due to operations and rehabilitation measures, he missed the qualification for the world championship in Antalya. Quarreling with fate, he often toyed with the idea of an immediate end to his career. But he fought his way back.

After victories in Warsaw and Donetsk in October 2010, Johann Martin invited him to the preliminary squad for the Olympic qualification for London 2012. In Johann Martin, Stoll found a good friend and trainer at an early age who always helped him get back on his feet. Stoll once said of Martin "Johann is like a mother to me . Only without breasts ." As a result, Stoll was injured and qualified for the Summer Olympics. He started on August 4, 2012 in the class up to 94 kg for Germany . Unfortunately he was eliminated early and could not qualify for the final as 13th of the preliminary fights.
