Nicolas Verhoeven
Nicolaas Verhoeven MSC (born June 2, 1896 in Oisterwijk , Netherlands , † March 31, 1981 ) was a Dutch Roman Catholic bishop .
Life, accomplishments and work
Verhoeven was ordained a priest on August 15, 1922 for the Sacred Heart Missionaries. On March 13, 1947, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Hermonthis and Vicar Apostolic of Manado . On May 15, 1947 Willem Pieter Adriaan Maria Mutsaerts , Bishop of 's-Hertogenbosch , consecrated him as bishop with the assistance of Joannes Walter Panis MSC, former Apostolic Vicar of Manado, and Nicolas Stam MHM , Apostolic Vicar of Kisumu . On January 3, 1961, the Vicariate Apostolic was elevated to the Diocese of Manado and Verhoeven became the first bishop.
He attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
On June 26, 1969, his resignation as Bishop of Paul VI. accepted and he was appointed titular bishop of Strongoli . He resigned from his titular bishopric on September 15, 1976.
