Nicole Priesching

Nicole Priesching (* 1973 in Cologne ) is a German church historian .

From 1993 to 2002 Nicole Priesching studied Catholic theology and modern history at the University of Tübingen . In 1999 he graduated in theology (diploma) and in 2002 in history (master's degree). In 2003 she was awarded with the work “ Maria Mörl (1812–1868). Life and meaning of a ' stigmatized virgin ' in the context of ultramontan piety ”with Andreas Holzem at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Tübingen . From 2004 to 2010 she worked as a research assistant at Hubert Wolf's chair at the University of Münster . There she completed her habilitation in 2009 in the subject of Middle and Modern Church History . As spokesperson, she moderated the Schwerter Arbeitskreis Katholizismusforschung (SAK) from 2006 to 2014 together with Andreas Henkelmann . After teaching assignments and substitute professorships at the Universities of Saarbrücken , Würzburg and Tübingen , he was offered the professorship (W3) Church History and Religious History at the University of Paderborn .

Nicole Priesching's research focuses on the history of piety , slavery and Catholicism in modern times . Since 2017 she has been chairwoman of the Commission for Church History of the Archdiocese of Paderborn .
