Abby Smith (born October 4, 1993 in Portland , Oregon ) is an American football goalkeeper .

Career

societies

During her studies at the University of Texas at Austin , Smith played for the Texas Longhorns team there from 2012 to 2015 . Beginning in 2016, she was at college draft of NWSL in the third round at position 27 of the franchise of Boston Breakers committed. She made her league debut there on May 1, 2016 in a 0-1 away defeat at Portland Thorns FC . Just six days later, she suffered a serious knee injury in a game against the Chicago Red Stars , due to which she missed all other games until the end of the season. For the 2018 NWSL season, Smith moved to the newly formed Utah Royals FC franchise .

National team

Smith went through several youth national teams of the US American Football Association . With the U-20 national team, she took part victoriously in the U-20 World Cup in Japan in 2012 , the final was won 1-0 over the German selection. At the end of May 2017, she was appointed to the senior national team for the first time in June for two friendly matches against Sweden and Norway . In these games, however, Smith remained without use as during the Tournament of Nations held a few weeks later .
