Rodriguez made her first international match against Finland on March 11, 2005, shortly after her 18th birthday, and the US team won the Algarve Cup four days later by beating Germany 1-0 . She scored her first international goal almost three years later on January 16, 2008 against Canada when she made it 1-0 in the 51st minute. 14 minutes later she also made it 2-0. In between, she also took part in the Algarve Cup in 2006 when she lost to Germany on penalties in the final. In 2008, however, she was able to repeat the success of 2005 and by submitting to Carli Lloyd in the final of the Olympic Games in Beijing, she played a key role in winning the gold medal.

From 2010 to 2011 she was active for Philadelphia Independence .

In 2010 she won the Algarve Cup again and scored three goals in one game for the first time: At the 2010 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup , she scored 1-0, 6-0 and 9-0 in the game against Guatemala. For the 2018 season she moved to Utah Royals FC and made 19 league appearances, 16 of them in the starting line-up. In 2018 she had two appearances as a substitute for the national team in friendly matches.
