Nicotiana sect. Tomentosae is a section of the genus tobacco ( Nicotiana ). There are five types of it .

description

The species in the Tomentosae section are sturdy shrubs or small trees with soft wood. The leaves are large, winged-stalked, densely hairy and mostly a bit sticky.

The flowers open during the day or partially at night, they do not fade at dawn. The crown is zygomorphic , bell-shaped and red or pink to dirty white in color. The corolla tube is curved, the corolla lobes are pointed or slightly curved.

The number of chromosomes is n = 12.

The species are distributed in the Andes from Peru to Argentina .
