In the oldest documents Nieder- and Oberhatzkofen are always summarized as "Hatzkofen", which was first mentioned in 871. Niederhatzkofen formed a Hofmark who are in possession of the Bavarian noble family 1577-1781 of Nothaft was of white stone. From the end of the 18th century to 1845, Wiguleus Freiherr von Kreittmayr and his heirs were the owners of this Hofmark.

  • Former castle . The "Veste Hätzkoven im Thunckha" (= Donaugau) originally belonged to the Lower Bavarian dukes. During the Thirty Years' War the castle was burned down and then provisionally rebuilt. The current four-wing building was built between 1720 and 1740 under Baron von Weißenstein. Wiguleus Xaver Aloisius Freiherr v. Kreittmayr had the palace rebuilt in a classical style. In 1948 it was acquired by the then Rottenburg an der Laaber district and converted into a hospital. It has had this function since 1951.
