Nigel Hurley

Nigel Hurley (* 1969 in Cardiff , Wales ) is a British pianist , organist and composer .

Live and act

Hurley gave his first major concerts at the age of 16 and during this time was also regularly involved as organist at Llandaff Cathedral . At Keble College , Oxford University Hurley received an organ scholarship and studied in London and Weimar piano. Lasar Naumowitsch Berman , Paul Badura-Skoda and Amadeus Webersinke were among the pianistic influences during his studies .

Nigel Hurley has had a diverse international concert career. He started composing himself at an early age. A Carol premiered in London in 1991. The works premiered in Germany include the settings of the Welsh poem Calon Lân and the hymn of praise of Maria , Elegy for piano and violin and Veni Sancte Spiritus , which the Wuppertal Kurrende sang on tour in 2012. His artistic range includes appearances with Eva Lind , René Kollo , the rock band Calexico and the Babelsberg film orchestra .

Nigel Hurley lives in Berlin today .

Awards

In addition to numerous international awards, he has received the Grace Williams Music Prize from the Welsh Art Senate.
