Nikita Luther (* 1990 or 1991 ) is a professional Indian poker player . In 2017 she became the first Indian woman to win an international poker tournament and in 2018 she won a bracelet at the World Series of Poker .
Personal
Luther comes from Delhi . She attended the Sanskriti School in New Delhi and then did a Bachelor's degree from the University of Delhi . Luther lives in New Delhi.
Poker career
Luther learned poker on a friend's birthday. She has been taking part in renowned live tournaments since 2015 .
In the middle of February 2017, Luther and her compatriot Raghav Bansal won the team event of the Poker Cup in Macau , becoming the first Indian woman to win an international poker tournament. In early July 2017, she finished fifth at the Aria Poker Classic Main Event at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and received $ 65,000 in prize money . At around the same time, Luther was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino and came in the money in three tournaments of the No Limit Hold'em variant . At the 2018 WSOP , Luther won the tag team event together with the German-Italian Giuseppe Pantaleo and was the first Indian woman to secure a bracelet and a shared prize of around 175,000 dollars. In June 2019 she reached the final table at the Zynga Poker WPT500 of the Aria Poker Classic and finished second, worth almost $ 110,000.
In total, Luther earned more than $ 300,000 in poker in live tournaments.
