Nikolai Alexejewitsch Orlov
Nikolai Alexejewitsch Orlov ( Russian: Николай Алексеевич Орлов , scientific transliteration Nikolaj Alekseevič Orlov ; born April 27, 1820 , † March 29, 1885 in Fontainebleau ), from the house of the Counts of Orlov , was prince and only son of Alexei Orlowodorov .
Life
First he joined the tsarist army , then, after showing particular bravery in the siege of the Silistra fortress in 1854 , but also losing an eye and an arm, the diplomatic service and became envoy in Brussels in 1860 and briefly in Vienna in 1870 . 1872-80 he was ambassador to Paris , then to Berlin and died on March 29, 1885 in Fontainebleau.
As a military writer, he tried his hand at a Russian-written history of the Prussian War of 1806 ( Saint Petersburg , 1856).
family
Orlow married Katharina (Jekaterina) Nikolajewna born in 1858. Princess Trubetzkaja (1840–1875). Prince Otto von Bismarck , who met the couple in Biarritz in the summer of 1862 and had an affair with the princess, writes that she spoke some German and was an excellent pianist.
