Nikolai Wladimirowitsch Krogius ( Russian: Николай Владимирович Крогиус ; born July 22, 1930 in Saratov ) is a Soviet , now Russian chess master , official and author.

biography

Nikolai Krogius received the title of International Master from FIDE in 1963 and the title of Grand Master in 1964 . In addition to his chess activities, he completed a degree in sports psychology . In 1990 he was made an honorary member of FIDE.

Krogius was part of Boris Spasski's team at the 1969 and 1972 World Championships ( match of the century ). He also worked as a chess official, such as the head of the chess department in the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sport and Vice President of the Soviet Chess Federation.

Krogius was also active as a chess author, among other things he published a work on psychology in chess .

Krogius is listed as inactive at FIDE because he has not played a rated game since 1997. It reached its highest Elo rating of 2575 in July 1971. Before the Elo rating was introduced, Krogius' highest historical rating was 2686 in September 1967.

With the Soviet national team, Krogius won the European team championship in 1965 in Hamburg , at the same time he achieved the best individual result on the ninth board in this competition.

At the senior chess championship in 1991 in Bad Wörishofen, he shared 3rd-6th. Place, in 1993 in Bad Wildbad he was tied with senior world champions Mark Taimanow , Buchuti Gurgenidse , Boris Archangelski and Anatoli Lein .
