Nikolaus Fleckenstein (born September 16, 1906 in Erlabronn ; † July 24, 1979 ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( CDU ).

Life

After attending primary school, Fleckenstein completed an office apprenticeship. He initially worked in a law firm and in administration, was later unemployed and in 1925 was employed as a worker in a chemical company. At the same time he was a union member, joined the Central Association of Christian Factory and Transport Workers in Germany in 1926 and took on several honorary positions. He also attended evening seminars on social law and continued his education at the Academy of Labor in Frankfurt am Main in 1928/29 . In 1943/44 he took part in World War II as a soldier and was wounded several times.

After the end of the war, Fleckenstein co-founded the Chemical, Paper and Ceramics IG in 1945 . He was a member of the works council of Hoechst AG from 1945 to 1963 and was its chairman from 1961 to 1963.

Fleckenstein was a co-founder of the CDU in Frankfurt-Zeilsheim in 1945 . Later he was deputy state chairman of the Christian Democratic Workers' Union (CDA) in Hesse .

Fleckenstein was a member of the Hessian state parliament from 1946 to 1970 . This elected him in 1949, 1954 and 1959 as a member of the Federal Assembly .
