Erlabronn is a district of the town of Scheinfeld in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in Central Franconia . Before the territorial reform of the 1970s, it was an independent municipality.

Geographical location

The church village is about 4 km north of Scheinfeld on the district road NEA 25 and on the southwest slope of the Steigerwald . In the north it is bounded by the Hutzelsberg. The Banggraben, a left tributary of the banknotes , rises from several nearby sources and flows through the place in a south-westerly direction.

Erlabronn belongs to the group of clustered villages . The buildings are grouped around a village square with a village linden tree, where the Catholic Baroque Church of the Holy Cross with cemetery and the former schoolhouse are also located.

history

The first written mention of the place as "Erliinbrunnan" dates from the year 1050 and comes from the Benedictine convent Kitzingen (later Ursuline convent ), to which Erlabronn belonged until 1804/5. In 1806 the area became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria . Population development

In 1877 there were 266 inhabitants in Erlabronn, on December 1, 1910 there were 196. In the following decades the number of inhabitants continued to decline slightly: In 1933 there were 182 inhabitants in Erlabronn at the beginning of the Second World War (1939) there were 159. 2011 there were still approx. 75 inhabitants.

Designs

The buildings in Erlabronn are mostly simple half-timbered houses from the 19th century. However, many of them are plastered. There are now three new residential buildings. Particularly noteworthy are the baroque branch church and the half-timbered manor .

Agriculture

At the beginning of the 20th century cattle were kept in almost every house. There were also many full-time farmers. Since the 1950s, livestock farming has continued to decline. Today agriculture is only run sideline and is limited to arable farming.

Club life

There are two registered associations in Erlabronn:

  • The Erlabronn and Surroundings Society (GVE) has existed since 1975. Two recurring events organized by the GVE are the hike to the suckling pig meal on May 1st every year and the Erlabronner Kirchweih in September.
  • The Erlabronn Fire Brigade Association has existed since 2010 . Annual celebrations of the association are u. a. the solstice fire, the Weiherfest and the Christmas market. Income from festivals and events is used to maintain the village.
