Kornhöfstadt is a district of the town of Scheinfeld in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in Central Franconia . With around 240 inhabitants, it is one of the largest districts in the municipality.

location

The church village is in the open, just under four kilometers northeast of Scheinfeld at an altitude of 361  m above sea level. NN . The Steinach , a tributary of the Aisch, flows through the village . Its two sources are located in the Schwarzenberg Forest to the west. In the center of the village are the village pond and directly adjoining the former Kornhöfe, a cohesive building complex, partly from the 17th century, which clearly stands out from the other buildings. It is naturally located in the Steigerwald .

history

In 1339 the place was first mentioned as Kurnhofstet , which means “Mühlenhofstätte”. In the document, the Casteller Counts gave the Ebrach monastery a farm at the request of the local nobility. From 1415, with Erkinger von Seinsheim , the Schwarzenbergs gradually acquired the individual properties. In 1448 they also bought the castle, which is said to have been in what is now the village pond. After their expulsion from Stübach, Roßbach and Obersteinbach, the Counts of Abenberg settled in Kornhöfstadt around 1462 . During the Peasants' War in 1525, the rebels forced the Schwarzenberg vassals to destroy their castle themselves ("Jörg the boy" was kidnapped by the farmers to Neustadt and could only save his life with the assurance that the "Kornhöftädt Castle" would be torn down). It was rebuilt; when it was finally abandoned is not known.

The original church, located near the Kornhöfe, is mentioned in the 14th century. A new building as a hall church has been handed down there for 1628 , this was demolished in 1958 - a memorial stone reminds of it.

The Bavarian original cadastre shows Kornhöfstadt in the 1810s with 40 hearths around the church in the center of the village and the pond .

Today's Catholic Curate Church St. Margaretha in neo-Romanesque style was consecrated in 1933. It is north of the old town.

In 1972 the previously independent municipality Kornhöfstadt, consisting of the main town and the districts of Birkach and Neuses , was dissolved. Birkach came to Markt Taschendorf , the other two districts were incorporated into Scheinfeld as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

Eight objects have been preserved in the place as architectural monuments . See also the list of architectural monuments in Kornhöfstadt
