Nikolaus Moreau (born August 26, 1805 in Vienna ; † February 25, 1834 there ) was an Austrian painter .

Life

Nicholas Moreau was the son of from France coming architect Charles de Moreau , who after 1801 Austria had come here and numerous buildings, especially in Vienna, was planning. After initially being tutored by his father, Nikolaus Moreau attended the Vienna Academy . Here he had exhibitions at St. Anna in 1833 and 1834.

Nikolaus Moreau was a painter of the Austrian Biedermeier period . The artist, who died early, created mainly genre pictures , but also portraits and depictions of animals . The depictions of scenes from what was then Vienna are of contemporary historical interest.

Paintings by Moreau's hand can now be found in Austrian museums such as the Vienna Museum , the Austrian Belvedere Gallery and the Museum of Military History .
