Nicholas de Insula

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nikolaus de Insula also Konrad vom Werder († 1409 in Venice ) was canon in Lübeck from 1393 , where he also held the provost's office from 1398, and from 1398 to 1404 canon of Schwerin , Hamburg and Bremen .

Life

Nikolaus de Insula was designated as Magister , in decretis licentiatus , clericus and presbyter of the Diocese of Schwerin from August 10, 1385 . From May 29, 1393 to resignation on May 26, 1400 he was Archdeacon of Müritz . On May 29, 1393 he received a commission with canonicals and prebends of Schwerin and the archdeaconate of Tribsees .

Nikolaus can be traced as Canon of Schwerin from December 7, 1398 to November 11, 1404. At the same time he was also vicar in Stralsund with an alms giving and vicar at the Putbus castle chapel on the island of Rügen .

From May 29, 1393, Nikolaus Insula can be verified as the canon of Lübeck. Before his canon, he litigated Johann Junge, who was murdered in 1389, for a benefice from Lübeck. From March 23, 1398 he also held the Lübeck provost office. On December 7, 1398 he exchanged these with Johann von Gatzekow for the Dean's Office in Lübeck, but the exchange was reversed after only nine days. Nikolaus remained the owner of the provost until May 5, 1408.

From December 7, 1398, Nicholas was also canon of Bremen and Hamburg. In Hamburg he held the office of canon and thesaurus until November 11, 1404 . From 1393 to 1399 Nicholas was also papal collector and, together with Ludovicus de Ballionibus, the Medici agent in Lübeck, was responsible for collecting and forwarding the papal collections in Northern Europe. He died on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in Venice before July 7, 1409, as the Lübeck provost's office had already been assigned to Berthold Rike at that time .
