Johann von Gatzekow ( bl. 1380–1417) was canon of Schwerin from 1391 to 1398 , dean of the cathedral in Lübeck in 1395 , and from 1398 also canon of Hamburg and Bremen .

Life

Johann von Gatzekow is believed to have been a member of a Greifswald council family. On December 7, 1398 and 1399 he was called baccalaureus in decretis . In 1401 he was enrolled at the University of Cologne and on January 27, 1403 there was a master's degree and papal familiaris .

From May 6, 1380, we find Johann as Vice-Dominus of the Cathedral Chapter of Cammin , where he was also active as Dean on December 19, 1406 . On November 20, 1386 Johann was verifiable as vicar of St. Marien in Greifswald in the diocese of Cammin . At the same time he was still a canon at Kolberg . On November 20, 1386, Johann was also provided with a canonical and a preamble to Passau .

He exchanged his canon position at Passau on January 15, 1391 with Johann Senging for a canonical with Präbende zu Schwerin , where he can be traced back to December 7, 1398. Johann was designated as the former Archdeacon of Arnswalde in the Diocese of Cammin on December 5, 1389, but this office must have been in his possession before 1380.

From July 18, 1395, Johann Gatzekow was the owner of the Lübeck deanery, which he held until November 26, 1417. On December 7, 1398, he and Nikolaus de Insula exchanged the deanery for the provost of Lübeck, but this process was canceled a little later. As canon of Hamburg, Johann can be proven on December 7th, 1398 and on May 13th, 1399 he received the provost office of St. Marien zu Hamburg .

At the same time, Johann was also canon of Bremen , where before December 19, 1406, he still owned a canon of the Anarchist pen . On December 7, 1398 he was also named as vicar at the castle chapel in Putbus on the island of Rügen .

He died on July 21st in the years 1414 to 1417 and was buried in Lübeck Cathedral , where his grave slab is documented but not preserved.
