Nils Runeby

Nils-Olof Richard Runeby (born January 29, 1931 in Stora Tuna , Dalarna Province , † November 22, 2009 in Uppsala ) was a Swedish historian .

Live and act

Nils Runeby studied at Uppsala University and received his doctorate there in 1962 with a thesis on Swedish history on the subject of “Monarchia mixta. Maktfördelningsdebatt i Sverige under the tidigare stormaktstiden ”. He then worked as a lecturer at this university. From 1975 to 1979 he held the chair for Nordic history at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , and from 1979 to 1996 he was professor for the modern history of ideas at Stockholm University .

In 1991 he became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences .
